Description: This is a gorgeous vintage Royal Heidelberg Winterburg Germany Bavarian China Tureen with Original Lid in excellent condition. I don’t see any chips, cracks or flaws in these pieces at all. Please take a moment to read my feedback which is 100% Positive. A Tureen with a lid is a serving piece designed for liquids, typically soups, and sauces. But for certain there are dozens of things that are beautifully served in this tureen. It’s not exclusively for soup and whatever is inside stays warm! This one is 8 inches tall, including the lid, and 11 1/2” wide handle to handle. In addition to the makers marks on the bottom, all the pieces I own also have the number “29” printed on them like a tiny off center stamp, but processed permanently in the kiln.. I have researched everywhere, but I cannot find anything that tells me what this means. Does that mean manufactured in 1929? I’m unsure. Should you happen to know what that means, please would you message me? I’d be very grateful. A Bavarian China soup tureen on your buffet or in the dining room makes a gorgeous complement to a formally set dinner table. It is also beautifully displayed in a China cabinet. These dishes first belonged to my grandmother who was born in the late 1880s, married in 1911. My mother was born in 1930. It’s my belief that these were manufactured somewhere around 1911 and she registered for them on her bridal registry. Interesting fact, my grandfather, her husband, served in World War II. While he was away in the service, she used to embroidery & counted cross stitch, tea towels, pillowcases, and sheets, then sold them to the department stores to help make some money, my grandfather was off to war. Her hand work was exquisite. That’s just the sweet kind of person who own these vintage dishes before. That same grandfather returned from World War I and worked at Sewell in Evansville, Indiana, making P-47 Thunderbolt wings for the WWII effort. In addition to this auction, please follow me to view all the pieces I am listing in this identical pattern. Serving a meal with all these pieces together, makes an absolutely gorgeous formal table. I have all the following pieces of this identical Rose Brier Pattern to sell in separate posts coming soon!
